This is a summary of [Polkadot Daily Q&As] from 18th Oct 2021 to 21st Oct 2021.

If you have any questions about Polkadot/Kusama, you can leave a comment on our Twitter @polkaworld_org, and the PolkaWorld team will answer your questions.

Q: What happened to the DOT that locked up for the duration of the lease?

Answer from PolkaWorld:

It will remain in the account used by the parachain team to bid in the slot auction (or, in the case of a crowdloan, in the index for the campaign) and it is reserved and unavailable for other uses such as staking. At the conclusion of the slot lease, the full amount of DOT is unlocked, after which it is once again free to be used for activities such as transfers, withdrawals, and staking. For crowdloans, contributed DOT is locked from the moment the contribution is made until the end of the lease, unless the crowdloan campaign is unsuccessful in securing a slot via auction, in which case contributed DOT is unlocked at the end of the campaign as set by the team.

Q: Why is there no staking rewards while I staked my DOT/KSM to validators?

Answer from PolkaWorld:

  1. Check out whether the validator you nominated is still active.
  2. Check out whether the commission of the validator you nominate is 100%. If so, that means you will get 0% rewards from the network through nominating this kind of validator.
  3. Check out the payout tab in http://polkadot.js.org.
  4. Whether the DOT amount is lower than the minimum stake amount(right now it’s 120 DOT in @Polkadot staking system).

Q: What is the significance of the slot auction to the Polkadot/Kusama ecosystem?

Answer from PolkaWorld:

  1. This is the beginning of Polkadot ecosystem development, and it also opens Polkadot/Kusama’s value capture ability!
  2. Through the community, market, and capital, the projects with growth potential truly picked out. Build a healthy Polkadot ecosystem from the very beginning!
  3. Truly enter the interoperability multi-chain era, and you can always expect surprises in it!

Q: Will @kusamanetwork parachains participate in the Polakdot parachain auction?

Answer from PolkaWorld:

It all depends on the teams itself.

If the team has two networks, they will eventually bid for the Kusama parachain use the Canary network and the other to bid for the Polakdot parachain. For example, @KaruraNetwork already bid as a Kusama parachain through slot auctions, and @AcalaNetwork will become Polkadot’s parachain through the slot auctions. The difference is when will participate the parachain auction.

If the project has only one network, it can bid for the @kusamanetwork

parachain or the @Polkadot parachain. For example, @Kiltprotocol only bids for the Kusama parachain. But @bifrost_finance will bid for Polkadot parachain when its lease period ends on Kusama.

So, the determination of connecting which L0 (Kusama or Polakdot) to get its network protected depends entirely on the decision of the project itself.
