Commonly Used Websites and Tools in Polkadot Ecosystem

Some people who have just learned about the Polkadot ecosystem may feel that they don’t know where to look for information. Today, we have compiled some commonly used websites and tools for Polkaodt/Kusama ecosystem. We often use them to catch on Polkadot updates and do research. I hope it will be helpful.

1. Official Websites

Polkadot Official website

The official website of the Polkadot network. It has a brief introduction to Polkadot. Blog articles on the latest developments of Polkadot will be published in the “Blog” section, and various community communication channels and contacts of Polkadot are also listed.

Kusama official website

The official website of the Kusama network, the Kusama network is the canary network of the Polkadot network.

Parity official website

Parity Technologies is the development company behind Polkadot and Kusama. The Parity website has some technical blog posts and job postings. If you want to follow the development progress of Polkadot/Kusama/Substrate, etc., you can follow Parity’s Github.

Web3 Foundation official website

The Web3 Foundation is the non-profit organization behind Polkadot and Kusama. The “Grant” section has introductions and application link for Web3 Foundation Grant Program. The “Research” section has some research reports and papers about decentralized systems.

2. Wallets

Polkadot.js App

Officially developed comprehensive user interface, a must. Functions include but are not limited to: balance inquiry, transfer, staking, nomination; parachain auction and crowdloan status; on-chain proposal, referendum, the election of council members, application for treasury funds, etc. Polkadot, Kusama and all Substrate chains are supported, and you can switch networks in the upper left corner.

Polkadot.js Extension

Officially developed browser extension, a must. It is more convenient to manage addresses and sign transactions, but it cannot directly display the balance and needs to be used in conjunction with the wallet app. Support Polkadot, Kusama and all Substrate chains, you can switch to the address format of different chains with one click.

A mobile wallet with account management, staking, governance, DeFi, NFT and other functions, supports Polkadot, Kusama, Acala, Karura and some Substrate chains.

3. Knowledge Bases

Polkadot Wiki

Polkadot wiki, including explanations of some basics and how-to guides. If you want to fully understand Polkadot, you can read it from beginning to end, or you can inquire about a specific operation as you want.

In the “General” and “Learn” sections, there are some basic knowledge and operation guides, such as Polkadot’s architecture, consensus, account system; how to generate accounts, how to nominate, how to transfer tokens, how to participate in governance, etc. The “Build” section is mainly for developers, and the “Maintain” section is mainly for node operators.

Kusama wiki, has the same effect as above, but all about Kusama.

A block explorer that supports Polkadot, Kusama and Substrate-based chains. Every transaction on the chain can be queried there.

Statescan

Statemine/Statemint (Kusama/Polkadot’s asset parachain) block explorer. You can query transfers, assets, NFTs, etc. on the chain.

Polkadot/Kusama governance website. From off-chain discussions, proposals to on-chain voting. There are intuitive displays, and governance operations can be performed directly after associating addresses. Every treasury proposal, tip, and reward is also displayed.
